Brompton Electric C-Line is a very lively and interesting folding bicycle, very suitable for commuters and travelers, they also often let people ride bicycles.

In the past two weeks, we have been cycling in the city, subway stations and many potholes to test the practicality of the Brompton Electric C-Line. Moreover, we have some ideas, the most positive ones, and some caveats.

In order to enter the field of electric bicycles, Brompton chose the classic C-line folding bicycle to accelerate. So why not? The C-Line has a great steel frame with brass details that looks great and can withstand the punishment of city cycling.

The trick to folding bicycles is that small wheels can sometimes become difficult when passing a bad road. The choice of steel frame mitigated the impact to a certain extent, although this is the focus of some controversy.

Cycling in a city like Toronto is challenging in terms of road conditions for anyone who has never been. The construction is endless, and all those "progressive" giant vehicles are driving on the road. There are potholes everywhere, from small turf to a big mouth that can swallow an entire bicycle tire. The city is also famous for its tram tracks, which overcomes another tricky challenge for cyclists every day.

The good news is that the Brompton tires are wide enough to handle tram tracks without any problems. Potholes are indeed challenging, but they are not much worse than traditional bicycles. Those who own full-size road cars or fixed cars with thin tires may be worse off.

Use folding bicycles such as Brompton, which have good maneuverability and can avoid most serious road problems.

Potentially, the bigger problem with potholes is that the portable battery may fall off from its input location, temporarily cutting the connection. We did experience a lot of bumps, and often riding did not remove it, although it was possible. When this happens, just snap the battery back to its original position, turn on the power, and you're good to go.

This is one of the questions about battery portability, but the design also has benefits. Naming it allows Brompton to continue to be one of the most compact folding bikes on the market.

The advantage of the compact size is that Brompton can take the subway and commuter trains during peak hours without any hustle and bustle. In fact, the London Underground uses Brompton as a measure of allowable and disallowed standards.

We took the C-Line subway in Toronto, at a station with many ramps and stairs. It takes about 30 seconds to fold the bicycle into a compact form, but for this option, the handlebars remain extended, which allows the rider to roll the bicycle along the ramp to the station and subway car. If you need more space after getting in the car, you can easily fold the handlebars in a few seconds.

When we tested it, it was late autumn and winter was approaching. It does raise concerns about the size of the wheels and the possibility of passing through the terrain during the snowy season.

The good news is that the vast majority of rolling is indoors, but if there is any significant distance or changing conditions, it can present challenges. To this end, we breathed a sigh of relief and learned that larger scroll wheels could be added for only $70 per pair.

There is no problem with taking Brompton up the stairs. It is not light, the battery weighs 38 pounds, the battery has been removed and it is equipped with a strap. Therefore, if you have a large number of stairs in the future, be sure to consider the weight. Fortunately, most subway stations focus on accessibility, which means elevators and ramps are a boon for Brompton passengers.

The battery has a range of 40-80 kilometers. It also comes with a built-in USB port to charge your device while riding.

Usually, those who have not experienced the miracle of folding bicycles question speed. If you commute to and from get off work alone, or go out on a boat on weekends, it’s impossible to struggle to keep up.

Well, rest assured, Brompton is designed to be very fast. Compared to large bicycles, the small wheels are balanced by a different gear ratio, which helps overcome any problems. Smaller wheels enable the bicycle to speed up faster.

In addition, the motors on the Electric C-Line are also great. There are three levels of assistance in 30/70 divisions, where the rider provides 70% power to 30% motor assistance. This is the first level, then the 50/50 division, and then 70% in the third level Assists. The maximum speed provided by the motor is 25 km/h.

How fast it is, how fast it is, this is very remarkable. Using tools is very interesting.

Toronto has some steep but short hills, and then the C-Line whizzes past without difficulty.

There is also a six-speed gear ratio to provide more options.

One of Brompton's best features is that it can be customized in many ways to meet the needs of individual riders.

For example, at 6'2”, our reviewer needed a retractable seatpost, which is ideal. There are also free regular and extended seatpost options.

In addition, there are a variety of saddle options, the aforementioned roller upgrades, bells, handles, colors, rear racks, and more.

Although this doesn't happen very often, we don't want to send this back.

As a tall person, some bicycles are more comfortable than others. Although Brompton is a folding bike, it provides a very comfortable riding position, even after hours of riding, there is no discomfort.

In addition, even the lowest level assists are still Cruise City. Accelerating after parking is very simple, although we rarely use the highest level of assistance, but when we do, it has a big impact on the wheels, allowing us to easily climb steep slopes.

Although Brompton Electric C-Line is expensive, it has been carefully designed and hand-made and can be used for a long time. We guess that you will find yourself riding a bike more often than ever.
